Learn how to use the Bokeh Technique in your festive projects to form a Snowy Sky.
The festive season will soon be upon us and I wanted to share a card that mainly used basic shape dies, one tree die, some ink, card and a sentiment.

Taking a matting layer of Coastal Cabana, I started to blend Ink from the mid way point upwards. I started with Summer Splash before darkening things up with Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy.
Once my base layer was inked and allowed to dry, I set to work on my mask.
Making your mask
Taking a 6″ x 6″ square of Window Sheet or acrylic sheeting, die cut a series of circles. I used the Stylish Shape Dies to create mine. Space them out enough that will allow you plenty of space for a blending brush to easily work over individual apertures without going into the next.

Working with your smallest circles first, apply white ink through the mask. With the remaining ink on your brush, move onto the next size circle up. The larger the circle, the lesser the vibrancy, the smaller the circle the more dense the colour is.
Once you’ve completed your circles, dilute some white ink in an old embellishment tub with a drop or two of water. Using an old paint brush or water painter, pick up some white ink and tapping the shaft of the brush on your finger, splatter the ink over the matting layer.

Allow the white ink time to dry before handling.
Meanwhile die cut your trees from the Frosted Forest Die set from white cardstock, keeping a good portion of white cardstock beneath them. This will give the illusion of a snowy scape. Adhere this to your card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals having added a length of Baker’s Twine for a Bow.

For that pop of colour, stamp your chosen sentiment using Versamark Ink and Heat Emboss white onto Poppy Parade cardstock. Cut this sentiment into a banner shape. I used the Stylish Shape dies and cut it down, curling any to form a scroll.
Finally add a splattering of Pearls, Rhinestones or Sequins in white and silvers to add yet more snow to the sky. Of course, a splattering of Wink of Stella would also bring in that slight shimmer if that’s what you’re after.
