Creation Station – Santa’s Workshop

Welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop, where this month we share inspiration from Santa’s Workshop.

If you’ve arrived here from the fabulously talented Elizabeth Price, then you’ll have already been spoilt to some festive inspiration. A very warm welcome to our monthly hop, which focuses this month on Santa’s Workshop. I decided to focus on Santa’s favourite festive cookie … the Gingerbread man.

The Sending Cheer Bundle was the perfect bundle to bring this inspiration to life. Starting with a matting layer of Balmy Blue, I first Heat Embossed white the large Snow Crystal to one side. Taking darker shades of Blue and a Blending Brush, I proceeded to darken up the sides of this matting layer. Doing this allowed the snowflake to stand out more so.

To give the Gingerbread men a bed to lay on, I die cut a series of Pine Sprigs from the Joy of Noel Die set. Applying Shimmery White Embossing Paste allowed these to look snow frosted.

Allowing the paste to dry, I set to stamping two Gingerbread Men with Pecan Pie Ink. A Real Red bow was die cut and added to one with a simple sentiment tag added with a linen thread bow.

A generous splattering of Whisper White Ink added to the wintery feel for this fun handmade card.

You Can Create it with Beary Christmas

The You Can Create it Design Team have been creating with November’s Papercraft kit and the Beary Christmas Suite.

Our November packet furnished us with papers and cards from the Beary Christmas Suite. Using the Memories & More Card and Envelope, I mat and layered this with a piece of the Beary Christmas Designer Series Paper.

Stamping snowflakes in the sky, I added a Stylish Shape Circle to mount my sentiment upon. The strip of red Christmas Trees came from the Memories & More card and helped give a lift of colour to an otherwise Blue card. Cutting the sentiment from another Memories & More Crd added a playful retro look that I finished with some embellishments and a simple bow of Twine.

My second card used the smaller images from the Designer Series Paper to nest behind three stitched Stylish Shape Circle cut outs as an elevated matting layer.

A partially fussy cut sentiment from the Memories & More cards, teamed with a Real Red stamped sentiment from the Beary Cute Stamp set. Positioning the sentiment across the entire card base, allowed your eye to look across the whole card and added a playful vibe with the differing fonts.

A scattering of Pearls and a simple twine bow and my card was complete.

ARTISAN Design Team Secret Santa CASE

The 2023 Artisan Design Team have been doing a Secret Santa CASE for fun. With so many hugely talented designers, I knew I’d have someone incredibly inspiring to CASE.

To CASE is to Copy and Share Everything or to Copy and Selectively Edit. You Can pick out colours, a layout, a style, anything you like and interpret the card into something of your own.

My Secret Santa CASE is the lovely Aurélie from France. Requested to go back through this amazing Artisan year, we had to choose one project created by our Secret Santa to CASE. I chose a Corporate post of Aurélie’s from March.

My colour palette is much the same, just slightly softened with a little more Petal Pink and less black.

Selecting this line drawn image from the Joy of Noel, I knew that this was the perfect set for this CASE. Using a Petal Pink Blends Pen, I set to colouring a scrap of Vellum before tearing the edges. This was adhered flat to the card, off set to the left. This allowed for the torn edge to protrude outside of the matting layer above.

A touch of white on white heat embossing allowed for a touch of Ink Blending for some Emboss Resist detail. Stamping Black on white, two of the sprig images stamped and die cut before elevating upon Dimensionals. A large loopy bow of Gold Simply Elegant Trim was tucked in behind to give a touch of gold elegance.

Vellum Sentiment Banners

The square Stylish Shape Dies perfectly took the word Noel which was added with Dimensionals. Adhering Vellum can be tricky, so Heat Embossing a sentiment in gold onto Vellum required some thought. Creating a banner from this strip, saw me fold back the banner ends, which I adhered behind the raised elements that sat beneath, thus disguising the tape that held it in place.

A scattering of embellishments and I hope my take on Aurélie’s card has done her work justice. A real pleasure sharing this Artisan year with Aurélie and the rest of the team.

Christmas Classics with a Walk in the Forest

Want a Walk in the Forest with Christmas Classics? … This fabulous Paper that helps donate money to charity, helped pull this card together.

Half inch strips of Designer Series Paper, adhered across a square of window sheet formed the backdrop. Stylish Shape Circle Dies were used to cut a background circle that was raised on Dimensionals. Set upon a Basic White Matting layer embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder. Space for a sentiment was created by partially embossing the embossed matting layer.

Two trees were fussy cut using Paper Snips and adhered both flat and with Dimensionals. The Bear was cut using the Bear Punch and adhered using foam pad Dimensionals to sit in the foreground.

The sentiment, from the Christmas Classics stamp set, was stamped using a coordinating ink colour. Teaming a script font and a more solid font, helped bring interest to the sentiment before a scattering of Festive Pearl embellishments.

Christmas Classics Wreath card with a Walk in the Woods

The Christmas Classics is the perfect set to use to crate a Christmas Wreath card. A card designed and created for a recent class.

Using the Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper, I cut a strip and adhered it to the left of my card. Drawing around my tear and tape spool with a pencil, gave me a visual line to follow. Inking up the pine sprig image with Garden Green Ink, I set to stamping around the semi circle with both first and second generation stamping.

Using the same colour, I randomly stamped Holly Leaves around the wreath before colouring them. A Blender pen and Garden Green Ink was perfect way to colour the holly leaves. Near each set of holly leaves, a set of Cherry Cobbler Berries were stamped.

A strip of Gold Foil was adhered to the left edge of the matting layer before adhering to the card base.

To finish my card off, I heat embossed white my sentiment upon a Cherry Cobbler Banner. This was raised over my wreath and a final scattering of embellishments added.

Abundant Beauty Thank you Card

A floral note of Thanks made using the Abundant Beauty Masks and blended inks.

Starting with a soft palette of Soft Sea Foam, the Basics 3D Embossing Folder was used to add texture to a Matting layer. A simple die cut circle helps draw your attention to the focal point of flowers.

Starting with a lighter shade of Moody Mauve, Ink was blended through the floral Abundant Beauty masks. A darker shade of Blackberry Bliss was added to give atmosphere to the flowers. Adding extra ink of the same colour green was added to the base of each of the leaves before all images were fussy cut with paper snips.

Arranged in a collage over a soft faux bow of Iridescent White Ribbon, a scattering of Iridescent Rhinestones was added.

In contrast to the flowers but sticking to a soft palette, a white Heat Embossed sentiment on Pool Party card, was added. Throughout the Year sentiment set is the perfect set to cover a good percentage of your sentiment needs.

All About Autumn Leaves

It’s all about Autumn Leaves today and the colourful changing season.

Wanting to create a card with a simple row of leaves I set to die cutting squares of coloured cardstock using the Autumn Leaves Dies. Using both the positive and negative of each square gave great framing. To bring a touch of elegance, I used the Gold Gilding Leaves to the tips of each leaf.

For the number of leaves cut, a larger, narrow DL card was created with a matting layer of the same Pretty Peacock colour. Staggered across the card with some elevated on Dimensionals, the leaves were set out to represent the changing colours of our leaves.

A crumb cake sentiment panel and a simple Linen Thread bow helped complete this colourful Autumn card.

Christmas Classics fun fold with a Walk in the Forest

Christmas Classics Fun fold teamed with a Walk in the Forest for a simple little card.

I’ve just finished a series of classes using this fabulous Bundle and these beautiful papers. This was one of the three cards that we created. A simple Fun Fold that saw us cut the front card panel to a square to take the delicate detailed die cut element.

The ladies all had their own packs of Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper to use what patterns they liked. Here I went for contrast with a snowflake edge to the inside panel.

The gorgeous Iridescent Ribbon sat between the layers of this Die Cut panel that was stamped with our sentiment. Further Holly leaves and berries were stamped and coloured using the Blender Pen and Ink before embellishing the centre of the bow.

A simple little card that beautifully showcases the papers and this detailed die cut frame.

Let’s Get Hopping #70 A Christmas Carol

The Let’s Get Hopping Team are sharing A Christmas Carol this month. For my cheerful carol singers, I decided to team up Festive & Fun and Zany Zoo for the perfect pairing.

Singing various Christmas carols I eventually found a Christmas carol I wanted to focus on. Deck the Halls seemed most fitting with these images.

First I set to stamping the two images using Black Memento Ink onto scraps of Basic White cardstock. It was nice to lose myself in the colouring, which I did with alcohol Blends Pens. Tempted to fussy cut the images, I decided to first cut using the Deckled Rectangle Dies. The layout for this card came at this point and my decision to therefore add some Pool Party ink to the background of each image. This was faded out using the Colour Lifter Pen.

Embossing folders are the perfect tool to add detail without too much clutter to a card. It had to be the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder in this case.

Adhering the rectangles in a haphazard way, the smaller raised on dimensional, I knew my sentiment needed to be dead centre.

To avoid blocking out a lot of the images in the background, I stamped my sentiment and spent time fussy cutting with paper snips. Skinny letters required half cut mini Dimensionals to adhere this once complete. I placed this sentiment in such a way that it gave the appearance of the words coming from the mouth of the tortoise.

A few scattered embellishments for that touch of sparkle and my card was complete.

Stamping Sunday – Stocking Fillers

Welcome to this month’s Stamping Sunday Stocking Fillers Challenge. Be it gifts or cards, the challenge can be interpreted as you wish. I turned my hand to the fabulous Sending Cheer Stamp Set that needed inking up.

Stamping Sunday Blog BannerWanting some untraditional Christmas colours, I pulled forwards, Cherry Cobbler, Gray Granite and Pool Party to stamp three stockings with. Once Die cut, I added the little white die cut toppers. There were so many ways I could have hung these stockings but a simple Shaker peg hook seemed most fitting and allowed me to use the tiny heart die as the peg hooks.

With a wall at home very similar to Pretty Peacock, I decided to blend up a background using this colour. A few stamped stars and my shaker peg rail was adhered down.

A set of Holly Leaves and a berries were stamped and die cut to add with a very simple little sentiment tag. A super simple little card layout but a super cute one for this Stocking Fillers challenge.
