Stampin’ Fancy Friday – My Kind of Christmas Challenge

This month the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Team are sharing their kind of Christmas Challenge. 

We all have our traditions at Christmas and this month’s Fancy Friday Challenge is all about this. The challenge is to incorporate our type of Christmas in our project and for me, it’s Poinsettias.

The Poinsettia always brought about a family giggle. Ironically it was a flower that no female through our family liked. Year upon year they somehow turned up in the house. A big family celebration in a hotel one year started with the absence of the tree that the hotel quickly rectified. A small fake tree was put up, that was loaned from the staff quarters. Awaiting decoration, they went about the hotel pulling all of the Poinsettia heads from the plants and pushing them into the tree to dress it. This caused much hilarity amongst the family which has brought about a love-hate relationship with them now.

This month’s Christmas Challenge had to include the Poinsettia for me.

Sponging up the Pretty Peacock matting layer to darken the sides and add focus to the centre, I splattered it with Wink of Stella and Frost White Shimmer Paint.

Whilst allowing this to dry, I die cut this fabulous Poinsettia from Real Red cardstock and the flourishes from Mossy Meadow. The Beautiful Boughs Dies coordinate perfectly. Adding an additional hint of shimmer, I die cut the little berries from Silver Foil cardstock.

Adhesive Foam Sheets help add lift to die cut words. Being quite deep with embellishment, this card is best hand-delivered or used as a gift tag. I just know that for all the wrong (and right) reasons, this card would raise a smile for my Mum.
