Whale Done to our Beautiful World, you really do offer such incredible sights. A dress I recently purchased, that supports Marine Life, had me thinking of this theme. Our Whale Done stamp set offers some fabulous marine images that I knew would work well with this sentiment.
This month I have been a part of the Crafty Carrot Collective Course and it was one tutorial that helped to inspire this layout. Jennifer Frost walked us through the tutorial of her card and her thought process of achieving her layout. I knew the sets I wanted to use and the papers but from there, I just had to play.
I was surprised at just how quickly this finally came together and I was delighted in how it turned out.
One thing that really inspired me was how Jenn used a simple patterned paper from the In Good Taste suite to stamp on instead of cardstock. Loving this idea, I set to work. The layout was kept to that of Jennifer’s but the images were far from the same. Jennifer took her layout inspiration from our Annual Catalogue and a card she saw in there.
Loving Pretty Peacock as I do, I knew that this patterned paper had to be my base pattern and colour. The colours for the rest of the card grew from here. I threw in a subtle pop of Crushed Curry for good measure. Lots of stamped images, texture and detail and finished with a beautiful shimmery ribbon. The iridescent ribbon offers a metallic woven thread that offers the shimmer of the sea. I thought it worked so well and the colour blended perfectly.
Using Patterned Paper
I don’t often use patterned paper but found myself using more and more on this card. The base matting layer, the stamped layer, the turtle and even the sentiment panel came from the Whale of a Time DSP Pack.
A collage layout isn’t something I often do but I certainly enjoyed creating this card and I really hope that you like it.
The girls of the Crafty Carrot Collective are ex Artisan colleagues and all offer such inspiration.
