Birthday Surprises from the Piccadilli Players

Welcome to the Piccadilli Players quarterly hop where this quarter we bring you an abundance of Birthay Surprises.

I love creating tall, slender cards, so I designed a floral DL card featuring the Delightful Wishes Bundle.

I started with Thick Basic White cardstock measuring 8″ x 8″, scored in half at 4″ to form the base. On top, I added a Basic White die-cut matting layer using the Delightful Wishes Dies, which created gorgeous fretwork detail. At the center, I placed a panel of Floral Delight Designer Series Paper in cheerful Daffodil Delight gingham.

Creating the Flowers

To frame the gingham panel, I die cut a series of flowers and leaves. The leaves, cut from Granny Apple Green and edged with Old Olive Designer Series Paper, gave a fresh layered look.

Each flower had a Lemon Lolly base topped with a detailed Daffodil Delight layer. I blended the top layer with Daffodil Delight Ink to deepen the centers, adding dimension and depth. Using self-adhesive sheets made assembling the flowers quick and seamless.

For the flower centers, I chose Pecan Pie cardstock, stamped with coordinating ink for extra texture.

I wanted a bold focal point, so I placed a large die-cut sentiment, Wishing, front and center in black and white. To extend the sentiment, I stamped a coordinating phrase with Black Memento Ink onto Floral Delight Crumb Cake paper, then die cut it for a polished finish.

To complete the card, I scattered a few tiny bee embellishments. Their golden shine added the perfect finishing detail to this cheerful floral birthday card.
