The Artisan Design Team bring you weekly Tips and Tricks to inspire you. Paper Piecing was my tip for this month’s share.
Using the Circle Sayings Stamp Set and some Designer Series Paper, I was able to create this rainbow of cupcakes.

To create my funky background, I first cut strips of Vellum to over lay a matting layer. This helps to give a soft stripe and dapples the colour beneath.

Once in place, I set to work on a series of cupcakes. Stamping onto Basic White cardstock with Black memento ink, I set to colouring. Light Pecan Pie was the perfect sponge cake colour that I paired with chocolate frosting.

Using the Deep Combo set of Blends, I created this amazing chocolate frosting. Starting with the darker of the two colours, I first edged the outline of the frosting, adding a touch of shading to the outer edges as I went. Using a slightly lighter shade to colour in the rest of the frosting, helped give a touch of highlighting.

Stamping the cupcake base image onto Designer Series Paper allowed me to create personalised cases. Paper Piecing with the Brights Designer Series Paper allowed me to create this fun rainbow of cupcakes. Fussy cutting, each cupcake case was adhered to the coloured base.
Finally, I paired this rainbow of cakes with a big bold sentiment. Backing a piece of basic white cardstock with Foam Adhesive Sheeting, allowed me to die cut the word Birthday, that would sit raised centrally. A basic white on black, heat embossed Happy was added before a scattering of sequins finished my card.
I hope you have enjoyed my share and that you’ve picked up a few tips here that you can implement into your creativity.
Best wishes
