All Star Tutorial Hop – Sweet Symmetry Suite

The All Star Tutorial Design Team have been playing with the Sweet Symmetry Suite for this month’s Tutorial.

Welcome to this month’s blog hop, where we are sharing our inspiration using the Sweet Symmetry Suite. The projects that we share within this hop do NOT form part of the Tutorial Bundle for this month but are additional inspiration.

I decided to return to a layout that I used a good year ago for a Christmas card and one that saw me crumple up Designer Series Paper.

For this card I cut slender rectangles of the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper and used them as a backdrop to my sentiment. To start with I created two strips of striped cardstock by using a Blends Pen. This striped card helped to edge the embossed layer that I sat before it. The Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder gave a fabulous base of leaves to my formation of patterned papers.

I wrapped a length of White Baker’s Twine around the middle to tie in a bow to the right side of my sentiment panel. I stamped my sentiment using Night of Navy and die cut with a Stitched Rectangle which had to be made to measure.

Die Cutting to Measure

I initially die cut my sentiment using the Stitched Rectangle that was suitable in width but not height. Then, overhanging the die, I lined it up so that I could run it through the Cut & Emboss machine again to reduce the height of my panel. By doing this, I was able to create a custom fit panel.

By putting the sentiment off at a slant, brought about a playful look to this colourful card. I finished by scattering mini fussy cut flowers with Blue adhesive backed Rhinestones.

A fabulous way of showing you how you could use up scraps and off cuts from your left over Designer Series Paper.
