Stamping Station – Layers of Love

Welcome to this month’s Stamping Station hop where this month we offer Layers of Love.

Under the new name, The Stamping Station, the final merge of two amazing groups is complete. This month, as a group we bring you Layers of Love.

The Endless Love Die set was where this project started. Die cutting a series of hearts from the Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper, brought about a certain country feel. With this in mind, a layer of Country Woods DSP was positioned behind the large Gingham Heart.

Adhering die cut hearts from Basic Beige to a Basic Beige mat layer, gave the illusion of faux embossing. Further small hearts were die cut from Poppy Parade to coordinate with the red within my largest heart.

The Sweet Blooms Bundle offered the word lovely, which I shortened to simply say Love. The rest also came from the same bundle to complete my sentiment.

A silver foil die cut arrow and a scattering of embellishments helped complete my card.

Global Design Project #GDP534 – Sketch Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP534 – is a Sketch Challenge.

This sketch screamed Everyday Arches and looked much like a window … which had me thinking.

This cute little bear from Valentine Kisses was the perfect little bear to sit thinking in this make shift window.

Using the Everyday Arches Dies and Country Woods Designer Series Paper, I cut a shortened arched frame. With the off cuts, I was able to create the cross bars for my window was was raised upon Adhesive Foam Strips, just like you would a shaker card.

The Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder seemed the most logical to use for my matting layer.

A dark Mossy Meadow background sat behind my faux curtains, made from strips of Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper. My bear was stamped onto Crumb Cake Cardstock and shadows added using a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Pen.

An additional strip of Country Woods was added as a window ledge where my bear leant pondering out of the window.

Thinking of you seemed the most fitting of sentiments for this image, which came from The Right Words sentiment stamp set.

A Linen Thread bow and some embellishments helped complete my card.

Stampin’ Fancy Friday – Shades of Purple Challenge

This month at the Stampin’ Fancy Friday we’ve a Shades of Purple Challenge.

The Stampin’ Fancy Friday Challenge this month was to share shades of Purple. Not a shade that sits naturally for me to use, I’m very particular about which shade I work with.

The Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper offers many images of drinks suitable for this challenge. Lining up these drinks with a scattering of foliage, felt right and fitting for a rich Birthday Card.

Textured Notes Dies offered the perfect amount of detailed texture around the rectangle of Two-Tone Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Blended with ink of the same colour, helped richen the background to blend better with the card base.

The new Reason to Celebrate sentiment set was used with Blackberry Bliss ink on basic white cardstock. A final scattering of Frosted Irridescent Gems completed my card.

Global Design Project #GDP533 – Colour Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP533 – Colour Challenge

Taking the palest of the three colours, Petal Pink, I created a textured background with the Eyelet Embossing Folder.

Cutting Petal Pink cardstock to mat and layer each Perennial Postage label, I took a Blending Brush to add an ombre effect. Strawberry Slush helped give a wonderful warm glow to the bottom of each postage label.

The Mini Alphabet Dies offer the perfect size letters to add a personalised sentiment. To meet the colour challenge, Pretty Peacock cardstock was used for the word Hugs.

The flower dies from the Sweet Bugs Die set were used to add a scattering of white flowers.

Frosted Iridescent Dots coordinate with every colour they sit with, so were the perfect option for this card.

Global Design Project #GDP532 – Case Marga Bultena Challenge

For this week’s Global Design Project #GDP532, we are CASEing the Designer – our very own Marga Bultena. Marga’s style is always elegant and thoughtfully layered, making her work a joy to draw inspiration from. Marga’s original card below, is the piece we were invited to CASE for this challenge.

To CASE

Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit. I chose to keep the essence of Marga’s design while putting my spin on it through colour, texture and product choices.

I’ve used the new Simply Beautiful Dies to create this stunning floral focal point. The flowers were die cut from Fresh Freesia Two Tone Cardstock. Each layer softly ink blended using Berry Burst ink and a blending brush … this helped add depth and dimension. I love the two-tone cardstock with ink blending for a more natural, tonal finish to the petals.

In contrast, a darker Blackberry Bliss Two tone cardstock was used for the flower centres.

The Nature’s Symphony Dies offered the foliage die cut from Granny Apple Green cardstock. To coordinate with the flowers and add a little extra interest, the leaves were lightly blended with Pretty Peacock ink. This give them subtle shading while still keeping them fresh and vibrant.

The Simply Plaid 3D Embossing Folder was used to bring a beautiful, soft structure to the background. This was layered with a Basic White Perennial Postage die shape. A piece of Gathering Together Designer Series Paper added warmth. The card base itself is Basic Beige, which ties everything together with a calm, neutral foundation.

To anchor my floral arrangement, I added a white Stylish Shapes circular die cut panel beneath. The finishing touches include a Baker’s Twine Cream bow, a few Pearlised Embellishments for subtle sparkle, and a sentiment. A white heat embossed sentiment, from the new Reason to Celebrate Stamp Set, on Smoky Slate cardstock was added. It is clean and adds modern contrast to the softer elements of the card.

Die-Cutting Essentials Magazine Commission – Valentine Kisses

Reverse Stamping

Working with the Bear, I first decided to stamp one normally and one using the Silicone Mat and a Stamp Positioning Tool to reverse the image. Don’t have a Stamp Positioning tool? Check back next month, as we’ll have a fabulous Starter Kit offer that includes one.

First, Ink up the bear with Black Memento ink and stamp him onto the silicone mat. With the mat butted up to an edge along with a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock, place this over the stamped silicone mat. Stamping again not only presses the wet reversed stamp image through but leaves an image for die cutting.

Blending Crumb Cake ink around the edges of each bear helps create the illusion of contours.

Two Vellum cardstock wings were stamped using the same method of reverse stamping.

Meanwhile, a matting layer of Pool Party was cut to sit over a Pool Party base. Coastal Cabana Ink was blended using a Blending Brush to the top half of each piece.

From Basic White cardstock, a series of clouds were die cut. Mine were taken from the very recently retired Sunrise Sailing Die set, but they come in many other packs.

Flirty Flamingo hearts were die cut in three sizes and scattered across the sky, with my bears suitably positioned on Dimensionals.

The Reason to Celebrate stamp set offered the perfect sentiment that I heat embossed white on Real Red cardstock.

Stamping Sunday – Fresh Start & Creative Beginnings

Welcome to this month’s Stamping Sunday hop where we offer a Fresh Start & Creative Beginnings.

Exciting things are coming for the Stamping Sunday Team, as we prepare to unveil a merger with the Creation Station Team. We believe that when both teams come together, we’ll be able to offer a greater amount of inspiration … so stick with us and we’ll unveil our new name and complete our merger next month … but before we start, enjoy the increased inspiration on offer this month, as some of these new members join us.

Baby Card

This month’s theme had me create this cute little baby card. Making use of the Stylish Shape dies and the Mini Alphabet Dies, allowed me to create these cute building blocks. Using Basic White and Basic Beige, allowed the colour to come from the card base and decoration. Adhering the blocks to a soft sea foam cardbase and mat layer, textured was by using the Lovely Stripes 3D Embossing Folder.

Stamping the cute bears and sweet bird from the Valentine Kisses stamp set, I coloured them using Stampin’ Blends. The Light and Medium skin tone colours were perfect for this.

A scrap of contrasting Crumb Cake die cut with a Stylish Shape banner was used for my sentiment. Heat embossing this sentiment white helped compliment the white building blocks and added frill. Using the scalloped banner from the Valentine Kisses die set, was the perfect way to add this delicate frill.

The Sweet Bugs Die pack offered the perfect little flower and leaf dies that I cut using Lemon Lolly and Basic White.

A Linen Thread bow and some Holographic Resin Embellishments helped complete my card.

Global Design Project #GDP530 – Sketch Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP530 – is a Sketch Challenge.

Leanting towards the Nest of Winter Designer Series Paper, I allow three fussy cut birds to resemble each circle.

Fussy cutting three birds, branches and berries, I assembled them to reprepsent the circles, over a die cut panel of DSP.

To keep the theme of the wood branches, I used the Birch Wood 3D Embossing folder to add texture to my matting layer.

A double bow was created by splitting the ribbon in half and adding to one end of the heat embossed sentiment.

This sentiment is perefect for a colleague about to embark on a new job role in another county. Taken from the Peace on Earth Stamp Set, this was heat embossed white on a Lost Lagoon panel.

A scattering of embellishments and my card was complete.

Global Design Project #GDP529 – Colour Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project challenge #GDP529 – is a Colour Challenge. Three fabulous shades of blue.

Loving an Ombre as I do, I couldn’t help but do a spot of Ink Blending.

Using he line drawn images from Simply Beautiful, I first randomly stamped the flower images across a Balmy Blue matting layer using Black Memento ink. Starting mid way, I used a blending brush to blend Azure Afternoon Ink, consentrating on darkening the lower half and fading out towards the top.

To darken the bottom further, I blended Night of Navy ink in the same way, finishing the layer with a splattering of Stampin’ Blends Night of Navy and White Ink.

Layering this onto a white die cut Perennial Postage layer, gave contrast to the Night of Navy card base. For texture a coordinating matting layer was embossed using the Sunflowers Embossing Folder.

A simple black stamped sentiment was fussy cut with paper snips and added with a black baker’s twine bow nested behind.

A scattering of embellishments completed my card.

Simply Beautiful

To give you a further taster of these products, I’ve made this card to share. This is NOT my tutorial card but more inspiration for you.

Simply Beautiful is just one of the bundles available within this suite of products. I’ve used it here for a Wedding or Anniversary Card.

Starting with a Mossy Meadow DL Card base and embossed matting layer, I layered two strips of Designer Series Paper for my background. This paper came from the Lovely & Beautiful DSP pack.

Petal Pink Flowers were die cut and carefully ink blended with Calypso Coral ink. Using Two-tone cardstock, allowed the petals to have variation of colour, appearing more realistic.

The same applies for the leaves. Two shades of Old Olive, allowed for the detail of the leaves to stand out before ink blending was added to the base of each leaf.

A simple faux banner was created by cutting a block around my Gold Heat Embossed sentiment and adding banner ends either side. Ink blending the sides helped give the illusion of curvature and shadow.

To give that little extra something and to coordinate with the heat embossing, the flower centres were die cut from Gold Foil cardstock.
