Today we go Around the World on Wednesday with a Technique Challenge. The Technique that I chose to use for this share was the Thumping Technique.
I love Techniques and I’m sure if you’ve hopped over from Aurélie Fabre then you’ll have some fabulous inspiration.
The Thumping Technique
It would have been so easy for me to share my all time favourite technique of Heat Embossing but I decided to share the Thumping Technique instead. This technique is the perfect technique used with flowers, foliage and trees that require variation of colour.
Pulling the largest Lavender image from the Painted Lavender Stamp set, I first inked up using Highland Heather. Taking the brush end of the Stampin’ Write Markers, I then tapped or thumped the side of the brush tip across the Lavender. Using both Gorgeous Grape and Orchid Oasis helped give additional variation in colour to these Lavender stems.
The same technique was used on the leaves with Granny Apple Green and an Old Olive Marker. Before you stamp, you want to be sure to re-moisten the surface of the image by huffing with your breath over the top.
Blending Balmy Blue Ink across the centre of a white matting layer, I proceeded to stamp the tall leaves to sit high. I then used Granny Apple Green to stamp a row of grasses across the bottom. This row would hardly be seen for the Lavender sitting before it but you can just see them between. The Lavender was raised on Dimensionals to help bring them into the foreground further.
My sentiment came from the a Free Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Heartfelt Hellos. I love this Mother’s Day sentiment for the variation in fonts that it offers.
A final row of Old Olive Die Cut leaves were added to the foreground before some Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies were added.
