The Artisan Design Team are given a wonderful task to offer a Creative Project from time to time. This month, I share my Creative Project that I dedicate to my husband. An avid Motorbike Rider, I made him a mini Album to help track his journeys out and his up coming Bike Trip. A mini album made using Treat Bags and the Legendary Ride Set.
A British Made Bike, his CCM Spitfire is a Classic. One of just 150 made, it sure is his passion and a thing of beauty. The photo below was the one she shared when he was first considering purchasing this bike and it is this photo that sparked my project inspiration.
A fun way of creating a Mini Album is by using Paper Treat Bags and adhering them together. Adhering the tops together and folding over, creates a tab for further pages to be added. Carefully trimming off a slither from the bottom of each bag, opens them up to create pockets.
Using the new In Colour Treat Bags had great colour coordination whilst offering a masculine feel with the check.
Wanting to age things up a little and bring some masculine touches, I created a faux Leather Binder cover. This is done by spritzing cardstock with water, screwing it up tightly and unravelling it to dry. To add further trim and interest, I added a Stitched edge created by using the die from Gorgeously Made Dies. Our new Copper Clay was the perfect colour to achieve that vintage leather look.
Deciding to replicate the photo above for my front cover, I took strips of Misty Moonlight cardstock and adhered them to a darker Night of Navy layer. This gave the illusion of the corrugated wall. The Floor was Foil passed through the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder.
The silver foil die cut bike needed some adaptations to better reflect the Spitfire. Two layers of foil, silver and gold, were added to each wheel and the mud guards adapted a little to better reflect his bike. It’s not a perfect copy but it’s close enough.
Inside the Album
I kept the colour theme the same, adding further touches of faux leather and random sentiments from He’s All That. The Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper offered both a dark bold Navy check and a run note pad sheet that I used for journalling. The notepad edge die from the Gorgeously Made Dies was perfect for adding detail here.
Some photos were added, but I wanted to leave plenty of space for him to add many more of his own. The corner image from He’s All That helped show this on the pages I had left blank. The pockets had tabs made from faux leather with some stamped detailing for that fun effect. This gave space for yet more journalling.
The added pages made from cardstock that were adhered to the treat bag tabs, were made into top opening pockets.
Lots more space was added and additional pocket tabs for yet more journalling and photos. A gift he received for his April Birthday and one that he both loves and will cherish.
I hope I have inspired you to perhaps make a mini paper bag album for journalling your travels. Such a fun idea and not too big either.
