The Let’s Get Hopping Team have a fun theme this month with The Art of Vintage.
This month we are sharing Vintage inspiration and I bring out a few techniques I seldom use.
Vintage can often be about ageing and frugal use of paper, buttons and ribbons. Tags were often repurposed for cards and memory keeping and often made from Kraft cardstock or similar.
Starting with the soft sage colour of Soft Succulent, I added a matting layer of Designer Series Paper. To age this up a little, I blended ink around the edges, stamped age spots and gently crumpled the paper. You can see some lightly stamped wording on this layer that I also used on my Tag. These vintage style images came from the Quiet Meadow stamp set.
Using a rectangle of Sahara Sand and using the Trio Punch, I created a vintage looking tag. Blending the edges with ink and roughing them up with the blade of a pair of scissors helped give an aged appearance.
Using the same coloured cardstock as my tag, I stamped my Echinacea and coloured with Stampin’ Up! Blends Pens. These alcohol based pens allow for great blending of colours.
Using up scraps of coordinating cardstock, I ripped these scraps to add a flash of colour and interest beneath my sentiment. Simple ribbon and Linen thread was added and a couple of brushed brass butterflies.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my inspiration today and that you’ll get yourself over to my Instagram account to follow our Instahop shared by the rest of the Team.
