Nuts about Squirrels has been this month’s Class focus. A wonderful Two Step Stamp Set with real character.
This month’s class focus was on Autumn and using the Two Step Stamping Technique. This is where you stamp one image like the outline and in-fill with another more solid image. For variety, line drawn images like these, can also be coloured with other mediums.
This first card saw us stamp one squirrel to our card layer and fussy cut a second. The papers I teamed up with, come from the He’s the Man set and work so well with autumn tones. These Grey Squirrels were stamped using Early Espresso Ink for the online and in-filled with Grey Granite. I also decided to stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock for a change, which helped to warm things up a little.
This card was intentionally kept simple so that the ladies could get used to two step stamping and splitting a sentiment.
Bringing in Texture
The Aspen Tree Die worked so well behind this circular aperture that’s been Dry Embossed with the Leaf Fall Embossing Folder. Having a darker Early Espresso Cardbase helped give the illusion of nighttime. With a hanging sentiment, it simulated a branch for my grey squirrel to sit upon.
Adding additional Images
More coloured was achieved by changing up the colour of the Squirrel, which here I stamped using Cajun Craze. Make best use of your stamp sets by pairing them up. Fond of Autumn worked so well with these Squirrels. The leaves were coloured using Alcohol Blends Pens with very little precision. That gorgeous Leaf Fall Embossing Folder was again used on my Sahara Sand layer.
I enjoyed creating these cards and I believe my ladies enjoyed creating them. These really did show how easy two-step stamping is and how quickly you can have images on a page fully coloured.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my share today and that I’ve perhaps inspired you with these cards.
