Whale Done our little fish

Inspired by the fabulous Jennifer Frost, who shared the most incredible masculine card using this set. I created this card, using Whale Done, to celebrate one little fish for his swimming achievements.

Our son recently took part in the IAPS Swimming Competition (Independent Association in Prep Schools). This event sees 40 qualifying Galas organised throughout the Spring Term with more than 400 schools competing. The fastest 1500 swimmers are invited to the finals that take place at the London Aquatic Centre in June. Undertaking an amazing swim, Bertie narrowly missed out on one of these places by just one second. He moves on with the desire to one day have another chance and this card celebrates his determination.

This Stamp set and coordinating punch have carried over from the previous catalogue and are perfect for male cards. Pacific Point is a card base I seldom use but felt was perfect for this project. Using tone on tone stamping, I added some little fish to the cardbase.

The edges of a Crumb Cake matting layer was darkened with a blending brush and the same colour ink. The image of little dots gave a faux aged look to the edges. Ruffing these edges with the blade of a pair of scissors and curling the top corner added to this further.

Using two shades of greens for the reeds, helped give depth. Stamping the Whale onto Crumb Cake cardstock, allowed him to blend better with the background.

The new Starry Sky in-color was used for the sentiment, which was set upon a Stylish Shapes Die cut circle.
