The Around the World on Wednesday Team are bringing you Something New, Something Old this month.
A warm welcome to this month’s Hop and for those who’ve hopped over from my dear friend Aurélie in France, you’ll have already been spoilt to fabulous inspiration.
Demonstrators have been able to pre order from the upcoming January to June Mini Catalogue for 2022 and I was drawn to a new Die Set. The Beautiful Shapes Dies offer Hexagonal shapes that had me think of quilting and had to be my Something New.
By repeatedly cutting hexagon shapes from the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalogue, I set to laying out a quilted layer. The Gingham, teamed with one floral and one slightly more solid pattern, helped to give balance. Adhering down onto a matting layer, I added faux stitching with a Soft Succulent Stampin’ Write Marker. This faux stitching gave an organic feel.
This card was finished off by adding a White on Black Heat Embossed sentiment from the Many Happenings Stamp Set. A cluster of fussy cut flowers and a loop of Soft Succulent Ribbon act as a backdrop to this sentiment.
I hope you have enjoyed my share of something new, something old. Hopefully you’ll agree that this Die shape could be used in so many ways with so many patterns to reproduce other similar cards. I hope they’ll be top of your shopping list.

Thank you, I’m so pleased you like x
Lovely idea, mikaela. It especially resonates with me as I’ve just started a hex quilt to use up some of my many years worth of patch scraps I’ve never really thought about combining the two crafts like this.
Oh Jan, you so must then … a great way of using up scraps and retired papers x
What a clever use of those dies. Beautiful!
