This week saw the launch of a new All Inclusive Tag Kit called Love, Santa Tag Kit. A Fairytale of New York is my favourite song, so I had to create a New York scene.
This is a Tag Kit that we’ve all been waiting for. You can see it towards the front of the Mini Catalogue. These oversized tags are just fabulous but they’d also make fabulous card toppers too.
Opening my kit, I was eager to set to creating something I had in my head. Two very quick cards that I really pulled together with nominal supplies and effort.
Transforming the tree tag
We all want our Christmas Tree to actually stand up and not be on the floor, so I knew I wanted to create an Easel card. By creating a stopper, stamped with Bumblebee presents, I was literally able to place presents beneath the tree.
Taking inspiration from the tag, I was able to add a very simple sentiment using the same elements used on the tag. This would allow me to gift a card and gift with coordinating Tag.
My Fairytale of New York
Inspiration was taken from a piece of artwork hanging on our lounge wall for this next card. With my favourite song being a Fairytale of New York by the Pogues, I knew I wanted to create a New York scene with the Yellow Cab tag.
Using a Night of Navy base and Ink, I used a Blending Brush to darken up the outside edges of my matting layer. Wanting to recreate 5th Avenue, I pulled out the smaller rectangle shapes from the Watercolour Shapes Stamp set and Inked them up with Black Memento. Repeatedly stamping these images to either side, decreasing in height and perspective, I was able to create a series of buildings. The Stampin’ White Chalk Marker was great for adding windows to the buildings.
To give the appearance of light pollution, I applied White ink with a dauber to the sky. A fine black Marker helped add masts and aerials used for fine detail. Splattering a Wink of Stella gave some night sparkle to the sky.
To give dimension, the Yellow Cab was added with Dimensionals and the same sentiment used as for the tag.
This card was crudely pulled together but I really like the overall appearance of it. Some parts could be smartened up and added to, but you get the general idea of what’s achievable.
I hope you have enjoyed my inspirational share here today and that your eyes have been opened to how else to use this Kit.
