The Butterfly Brilliance Bundle by Stampin’ Up! was the perfect bundle to demonstrate a fun technique.
Emboss Resist is a great technique that allows you to heat emboss an image and rub ink over the top to reveal this image. During last week’s Facebook Live, I demonstrated this fun and beautifully effective technique.
Inking up my image on the Stamparatus with Versamark Ink, I stamped and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. Watching embossing powder melt, as heat is applied, revealing the glossy image is quite magical.
Applying the ink with Blending Brushes allowed for a smooth and even application. Starting at the bottom and working upwards, I first applied Crushed Curry to a Daffodil Delight layer. Following tis with Mango Melody and then Cajun Craze helped to create a rich ombre effect. The white heat embossed images need buffing with a tissue to reveal them a little crisper, which is where this technique gains it’s name.
The dramatic feel came from teaming this up with Basic Black cardstock, which I used for the card base and the sentiment panel. A simple Black & White Gingham ribbon flash and some self adhesive sequins and this card was complete.
This second card started with me stamping small flowers from the Hand-Penned Stamp set using Daffodil Delight. This panel was then embossed using the Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder to add texture and interest.
By heat embossing the butterfly Black on Watercolour Paper, allowed me to add ink to create a life like finish. A cluster of texture, colour and images helps to add interest. A vellum panel backed this cluster with a Be Dazzling circle sitting beneath the butterfly.
The Be Dazzling Cardstock is a free pack of papers available through our Sale-a-Bration promotion. Spend £45 and you can choose this as a free option. Using the side of the brush end of a Cajun Craze Blends Pen, allowed me to coordinate this cardstock with my project.
Cajun Craze isn’t a colour that I often use but teamed with the rich yellows helped create a real Autumn feel.
I really hope you have enjoyed my share today. If you missed my Facebook Live and wanted to see how these cards were created, you can watch my Live on Replay HERE.
