The Around the World on Wednesday Team have been Shaking things up. I’m shaking things up with a Pop-up Slider Card … a Fun Fold that I’ve never made before.
A warm welcome to all and if you’ve hopped on over from my dear friend Aurélie, then you’ll have been spoilt by her talent.
I’ve been looking forward to the theme for this hop, as we shake things up a little. This can mean a shaker card or it can simply be trying something new for a change. I decided to create a fun fold that I’ve been meaning to create for a long while … a Pop Up Slider card.
Be that this fold is such a fun fold, these fun characters, from the FREE Playful Penguin Designer Series Paper, were perfectly fitting. I sat and fussy cut one of each character, mixing up the colours of their scarves and hats to help add variation.
Unusually for me, I turned to Fresh Freesia for my card base colour. These tones aren’t usually my preference but somehow I was drawn to this for this card. From the side of this card, you can see the cut of the mechanism and how the characters are adhered to an elevated panel that lifts and you pull the ribbon tab.
The Mechanism
Using our Stitched Rectangle Dies, you want to do a partial cut, by not covering one short end with the cutting plate. Once cut, you need to fold the flap in half. I then cut another partial rectangle to mount my trees and characters on.
You can see in the background I used the Tree Punch and the patterned papers to add depth to my focal point.
The sentiments for this card came from the Christmas to Remember Stamp set.
Shaking things up in my craft room making this to share has been a joy. I so enjoyed creating this fun fold that makes me smile every time I see it. I hope that applies to you too.
