Join the Around the World on Wednesday Design Team and I, as we Step it up with inspiration. Yes, this month, we step it up in whatever way we see fit or interpret the theme.
A warm welcome to all and if you’ve hopped on over from my dear talented friend Emma Goddard, then you’ll have already been spoilt with inspiration.
I’m stepping things up from a basic card using the same theme and layout to a more advanced card.
This first card uses this cute Sail Boat and sentiment from the Sweet Farewell set and the sea and birds from You are my Anchor. The stamp sets you receive in kits can often be over looked but often merge beautifully with other stamp sets.
Keeping the colours simple helped keep things looking fresh and blended with the Sweet as a Peach striped paper used. You can see above how I added a strip of Designer Series Paper to the edge of the inside panel.
The Sailboat was coloured using Alcohol Blends Pens, Smoky Slate, Misty Moonlight and Poppy Parade.
Step it up
Sticking to my theme, layout and basic elements I decided to introduce some Heat Embossing and Sponging. Randomly stamping and heat embossing the Anchors over the base layer I used the Emboss Resist technique over the top. Our soft Blending Brushes and Balmy Blue ink rubbed in a circular motion gave a subtle ombré effect.
Changing up the shape and colour of the sentiment panel and the focal panel behind, helped change things up a little. The sentiment for this card, came from the You are my Anchor card kit stamp set, along with the anchor.
The die cut shapes were created using the Sailing Home Die set, which I use more of for this next card.
Step it up again
Changing up the background again, I Dry Embossed using the 3D Seashells Embossing Folder that again, I sponged gently using Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight. Sponging helps the detail of this beautiful embossing folder to really show up.
Variation and texture was created by using the seaweed die in both Basic White cardstock and Vellum. Opal Rounds embellishments gave another level of detail to this final card.
I really enjoyed creating this set of cards and stepping things up for you. I hope I’ve inspired you to both Step it up and also to consider he stamp sets that come with our amazing kits. The kits themselves are a great value item but the on going stamp set makes them even better value.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my share with you today and that you’ll now hop on over to see what Annette Ball has to offer.
Thank you for stopping by today …. Enjoy the rest of the hop!
