Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop where this month we are sharing our Sale-a-Bration favourites.
I am loving pretty much everything in the Sale-a-Bration flyer, so it was quite easy for me to get designing. It was restricting myself to just a few items, that was hard, but these are certainly my personal favourites.
I decided to ink up a FREE stamp set called A Touch of Ink and focus on the florals within the set. This set beautifully demonstrates the two-step stamping technique. I pulled out my favourite pink … and for those who know me, you’ll know I’m not a pink girl. Rococo Rose is a beautiful dusky pink that I teamed with a slightly more vibrant, Granny Apple Green.
I kept this first card peeled back with a black matting layer on Blackberry Bliss and very simply kept the stamping to the top.
Two-Step Stamping
Two-Step Stamping is where you Stamp two images to create the finished look. Here, I stamped the first in Black Memento Ink which offered the lined drawing. The second image was the watercolour wash of colour. This was a solid image that covers the lined image in a random kind of fashion.
The stamp set offers some simple but useable sentiments, which I used here.
Embossing
This second card had me bring in some Embossing, both Dry and Heat Embossing, techniques that are my favourites. I changed up the orientation of the card before stamping a cluster of flowers and leaves. It’s helpful when you only ink up the section you want to stamp and twist the block as you go. Once I’d stamped the flower cluster,
Dry Embossing: Sandwiching the matting layer within the Embossing folder, I ran the entire panel through the Cut & Emboss Machine. The Subtle Embossing Folder gives a beautiful impression of texture to the cardstock of gentle ridges. Hard to see here, it almost makes the card look like it was made of fabric.
Heat Embossing: I love Heat Embossing. It was one of the first techniques I learnt and it wowed me way back then and still wows me to this day. To watch the Embossing Powder melt before my eyes and a glossy image or sentiment be left behind is like magic. Using an Embossing Buddy, I first neutralised a piece of Black Cardstock before stamping my sentiment with Versamark Ink, a highly sticky ink. At this point, you sprinkle over your Embossing Powder of choice … here I chose White. You then add Heat and watch it melt … it’s so satisfying.
Die Cutting and Paper Piecing
This final card had me change out the Dry Embossing for some simple Die-Cutting. A wonderful new Die that’s very easily overlooked in the new Mini Catalogue. The Stitched with Whimsy doesn’t cut out an image but more cuts into the cardstock leaving the wiggly stitching around the edge of the card. I achieved this by adding the Die to the card and running it through the Cut and Emboss Machine. This gave a nice frame to work with that I stamped some leaves within, using Basic Grey Ink.
Paper Piecing
Paper Piecing is when you stamp directly onto Designer Series paper and either Die-cut or Fussy Cut. This method is like colouring in the image with the patterns from the Designer Series Paper. Using the FREE Oh So Ombre Papers, my firm favourite from Sale-a-Bration 2021, I stamped the flowers and leaves using Black Memento. Some relaxing fussy cutting and it was then all down to flower arranging my cluster. I loved how the Ombre papers gave me the variation in colour for both flowers and leaves.
I added an Embossed sentiment before adding the final touches of a Twine Bow and a scattering of sequins from the Artistry Blooms Suite.
