This month the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Team are sharing inspiration using our Core Colours. This Core Colour Challenge challenged us to use just four colours, one from each colour family.
Stampin’ Up! have four Core Colour families, Brights, Subtles, Neutrals and Regals and each year have five new In Colors added. In Colors last a period of two years and are around to freshen up our offering and to be on-trend. This challenge was to use one colour from each of our four Core Colour families and this was my offering.
My Core Colour Choice
I started by choosing my colours before deciding what I’d actually create. Pool Party is one of my most favourite lighter blues and comes from our Subtles range. Perfect for sky and a wash behind flowers as I’ve shown here.
Gray Granite is a wonderful earthy tone from our Neutrals range. A real concrete kind of colour that’s perfect for your base card and to ground other more vibrant colours.
Not partial to purples, I challenged myself further to use Gorgeous Grape from our Brights and a Regal Garden Green to balance out the depth of purple.
These colours lead me to the using Field of Flowers Stamp set and making this card. With Tone on Tone, I stamped the word Always repeatedly over the Gray Granite matting layer before Embossing. The Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folders is one of my favourite “Go-To” folders. I roughed up the edges a little further before curling the top corner and adding a hint of Pool Party DSP. Our Core Colours appear in all of our Inks, Papers, Designer Series Papers (DSP), Ribbons and Embellishments, as well as Blends Pens. I pulled from some of the Core Designer Series Paper for some scraps of colour here.
I just love the shape of this Tasteful Touches Labels Die that I used to cut the Watercolour Paper. A gentle wash of Pool Party ink and a splattering from the Stampin’ Write Marker and my background were set. Simply adding the flowers using Garden Green and Gorgeous Grape, gave a strong focal point that I calmed down a little with a cool, Pool Party sentiment. This card really didn’t need for much else, so I embellished simply with a Linen Thread bow and some clear Elegant Faceted Gems.
Join in the Challenge
I am pleased with this finished card and hope that you like it to. Do feel free to join in our challenge and by creating something for yourself using one each of our fabulous Core Colours.
