The Let’s Get Hopping Team are bringing you One for the Boys and a selection of masculine inspiration.
Thank you for joining us today and. If you’ve hopped over from the lovely Shelly Wadge, then welcome and if not, be sure to hop around and see what all the others have to share.
Masculine themes can often be found quite difficult. for me, I set myself a challenge to make use of the Plaid Tidings papers from the Mini Catalogue. Some colourful plaids but one, in particular, had me think of Scotland, somewhere that my husband loves. He often tells me of the scenery, the hills, the trees and generally the amazing views. I felt I needed to try and recreate this.
The Stitched Nested Label Dies have that angular shape perfect for a masculine card. The Plaid had me thinking of an old fashioned smoking jacket that I somehow think of when I think of Scotland. Smoking jackets often have rope edge trim, which I brought into my project by using the die from the Smooth Sailing Dies.
Natural woodgrain seemed only perfect and fitting to team with the focal scene. This paper came from the In Good Taste Suite. Waterfront is the perfect stamp set to use for that mountainous setting and In the Pines for those trees and the finishing sentiment.
I stamped the mountains first with Smoky Slate, then Shaded Spruce and softened them using a Water Painter. It’s very hard to see in these photos, the Seaside Spray sky that I created as a backdrop. I added a little Soft Suede to the ground to muddy up the grass a little. All colours blended well with the papers used and the ribbon flash that sat behind the sentiment. Some wood elements helped to finish off the natural feel of this project.
I hope you like my offering and the story behind my thinking of this one.
Do remember to hop on over to see what Tracy Bish has in store for us.
Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by.
