Last week’s Facebook Live had me Celebrate Sunflowers to brighten a dreary rainy day here in Cambridgeshire.
The weather really had dampened more than just the garden soil, it was so dreary that I couldn’t help but pull something cheerful off of the shelves. I started by talking through how I had recently created a card using the Stamparatus for some Customer Thank you Cards.
This was a card I had shared a week or so back and thoroughly enjoyed making. Autumnal colours with a sunny vibrant sunflower backed with Designer Series Paper, it was quite quick and simple to make and I showed just how.
My second card saw me using versamark on Sahara Sand cardstock and colouring in with a White Watercolour Pencil. Using an Embossing Buddy to neutralise where Embossing Powder would take, gave a hit and miss effect to the card.
The splatters were achieved by splatting water and embossing powder.
We made two versions of this card, one with the sentiment up high and another down low. I liked both for different reasons and loved the overall effect of this technique.
Using Watercolour paper and Bumblebee Ink, I gave a wash to the cardstock of this final card before drying and neutralising with an Embossing Buddy. Splattering again with water allowed the Gold Embossing Powder to catch that I then heated to melt. This tied in nicely with the leaf sprigs I added over the top of the Sunflower.
A simple thread bow and a sentiment and the card were complete.
I felt these looked elegantly calm and quite understated. If you missed my Facebook Live and you’d like to go back and take a look, you can do so by clicking HERE.
