Last night I enjoyed a Retro Birthday Celebration with those watching my Facebook Live. Oh, we had fun taking a trip down memory lane. Born in 1970, I grew up through the 70’s and feel most at home with the Retro vibe. I still believe that It was the fashions of that time that taught me where to seek inspiration and it was this that I wanted to share.
Vibrant colours mixed with a lot of reds, browns and oranges were one memory I had. This card offers die cut flowers from In the Tropics scattered over a Soft Suede card base for this fun, playful feel. I love how the new Magenta Madness and Cinnamon Cider work so well here. I swear I had a blouse in this fabric pattern.
Fashion and Home Decor
A darker brown card base again, this time I used ann Early Espresso backdrop for these large hypnotising circles. These reminded me of the 70’s wallpapers, scatter cushions and tableware that I grew up with. A great card layout for male or female I had fun creating this.
Kids TV Programmes
A memory of kids TV Programmes and album covers gave me the idea for this next card. Very simple strips of colour, finished off with a Stitched Star. Somehow I think of a Chopper Bike when I see this finished card. Oh, the memories. We had fun throughout the Live Crafting session reminiscing of kids TV programmes we used to enjoy. We did have a giggle.
As this sentiment says, you can be awesome at any age! For me, 50 is just a number. I’ve enjoyed the years leading up to it and I’ll enjoy many more beyond (God willing). This card was again based on the same colours used in previous cards, of Mango Melody, Poppy Parade, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy. It didn’t quite meet up how I wanted it to, but I loved the finished effect. Again, this reminded me of Album covers and Vinyl records.
I loved growing up through the 70’s and I hope my cards have reminded you of the fun times shared (if you were around then). I thoroughly enjoyed having a little fun celebration with you last night and I really hope you too enjoyed it. If you missed it and you wanted to see how these cards were made, then you can still take a look HERE.
