This month the Fancy Friday Team were CASing a Fancy Friend. To CASE is to Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit. I had enjoyed looking back at my Fancy Friend’s work and came across this card by the talented Susan Wong.
A little later than when my card was shown on Instagram, family matters got in the way of me publicising it here for you.
Susan’s work has always inspired me. She offers enough detail, technique and colour but still seems to have a clean and simple look. This card with the whimsically watercoloured background stood out and I knew immediately that I wanted to recreate it using Forever Fern.
Green is my favourite colour. I love nature and so Forever Fern seemed only right to team up with a green background.
On a matting layer of shaded spruce, I adhered a layer of Watercolour paper. Before adhering I randomly stamped and heat embossed white, some leaves from the stamp set. Picking out various tones of green, I gave a swoosh of water across the card from dark to light.
Susan has a great way of using up scraps of cardstock and ribbon to complete a project. I snipped to size, some offcuts of Designer Series Paper, Ribbon and twine and stapled them to the back of my stitched circular sentiment.
Taking our Blends pens and some pearls, I coloured a few to blend in with the watercolour background. This fine detail really completes a project I feel.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my share this month. The Stampin’ Fancy Friday Instagram Feed is where you’ll find all the inspiration from us former (and current) Artisans on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Team. Be sure to check us out.
Enjoy and see you next month.
