Stampin’ Creative – For the Guys

April 30, 2020 by Mikaela Titheridge 8 Comments

The Stampin’ Creative Team are doing it for the guys this month, a topic that can be challenging.  I actually really enjoyed creating what I’m sharing with you today.

Stampin' Creative Blog Hop Team, with Artisan Design Team Member 2019, Mikaela Titheridge, UK Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, The Crafty oINK Pen. Supplies available through my online store 24/7

Not wanting to select the obvious from my shelves I turned to a Hostess Set, Make a Splash and the Crab that’s within it. I like using sets that are less obvious and fancied a nautical theme, which I felt was suitable for the guys.

Starting with the colour palette, I swayed towards Terracotta Tile for the Crab itself. I felt this colour needed something punchy to compliment it and shades of Turquoise seemed only right.

I took the striped image from Lilypad Lake and repeatedly stamped it to create this ombre effect on Coastal Cabana cardstock.

Blending through Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay through to Pretty Peacock and I had this fabulous ombré sea border.

After stamping a single image, I stepped things up a little by bringing in an Embossing Folder.  With such a plain white layer, the High Seas 3D Embossing folder offered the perfect amount of texture. A Starburst punched vellum layer matted the focal point with a flash of silver foil.

Masculine cards often require a less floral looking font for your sentiments and Label me Bold offers the perfect block sentiment. Un-fussy and quick to create.

My eye started to imagine these crabs as a repeated pattern and had to give it a try.

I have to say, this was my personal favourite of this set and I do see flock wallpaper or a Paul Smith shirt. I’m sure someone out there would wear a shirt with this print over it.

Quite a contemporary set of cards using an image that’s perhaps not an obvious choice. This would be perfect for my male friends who live down on the South Coast.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my offering today and I’ve inspired you to look at the less obvious sets on your shelves.

Do you like FREE Products? Then you're going to lo Do you like FREE Products? Then you're going to love Sale-a-Bration 2021 and this Oh So Ombre Paper.

The Black contrast of Simply Succulents looks incredible as an overlay to the Oh So Ombre Papers. I so enjoyed creating these, even if it created rather a mess on the floor of all the bits. These cards were created to send out to a few people who have been on my mind throughout the recent announcement of Lockdown. Wanting to add a little shimmer, I pulled in a touch of Black Glimmer Paper that has just retired but this could easily be switched up with some ribbon or a flash of something else.

These were designed as part of the new Stamping Inkspiration Blog Hop that went live last night. We were sharing Something New.
