Last week’s Thursday Evening Facebook Live had me create cards inspired by a Fatface Mug I had seen. I’d fallen in love with this mug and knew that I wanted to recreate a card of this style. Randomly stamped bumblebees on a blue base couldn’t be difficult to recreate surely?
I chose to use the outgoing In Color, Blueberry Bushel for my card base. I stamped the bees from the Honey Bee stamp set in Black randomly over a matting layer before adding the flower clusters in White. These cute flowers come from the stamp set, Seriously the best. I often love the stamp sets that accompany our Project Kits. Part of the sentiment came from this set too.
I filled in the stripes on the bees and their wings with the White Chalk Marker to give a neutral base to colour over. Crushed Curry offers a fabulous rich golden colour to compliment the blue and tie in with the rich copper edging.
The fine tip end of the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker was used to add the veins onto the wings. You need a light hand here, so making at speed on a Facebook Live probably didn’t help and I’m sure I could have created a much finer line had to slowed down a little.
The first part of the sentiment comes from the Honey Bee Stamp set and was heat embossed on Black Cardstock. I love piecing sentiments to make up my own combination.
I made these cards suitable to send to friends suffering from symptoms of the current virus. Not being able to send flowers comes hard so I needed to send good wishes and healing hugs via a card.
Sending Healing Hugs to friends
Stepping things up by adding some die cut pieces, I made a second card to send those healing hugs. This wonderful sentiment comes from the stamp set, So Sentimental. I added a strip of Blueberry Bushel to the inside back panel and shorted the front, randomly stamping along that edge with the wild flowers.
These same flowers appear from behind the hive here. Adding a touch of Copper again through the use of the Honeycomb die brought in that same metallic touch.
Facebook Live
Two very different cards, I thoroughly enjoyed creating these Live with you. All Facebook Live recordings are stored on my Facebook Business Page for you to watch back on, so feel free to head over and take a look. I’ll be live again this coming Thursday at 8pm BST.
Update:
Since preparing this post, I have taken a surprise delivery of one of the fabulous Fatface Mugs that inspired these cards. One of my friends/followers arranged for one to be sent to me … I feel so very lucky and am so very very grateful for such kindness and generosity.
