Last week saw the commencement of a Governmental request for Social Distancing, a necessity during the Coronavirus pandemic. Needing some light relief, we thought it would be fun to host a Family Facebook Live. Three very different cards from three different crafting abilities creating lots of giggles.
It was already quite a stressful week for everyone with great uncertainty in this unprecedented period. Hubby had been working from home, hot-desking between my craft desk and the dining room table. The joke was that he always came back into the house, having never made a single card. Now was his time.
Taking it in turns, we each made a card with Bertie, who’s 9years old, making a card for me. He’d already chosen his Stamp Set (Over the Moon) that depicts cows and a sentiment that he liked. His card was for me and now sits beside my bed. Hubby who had never stamped before stamped a card for his Mum using the Timeless Tulips bundle and me, a card for my Mum.
Inspiring Iris has me thinking of my Grandmother on my Mum’s side so I pulled this out to get creative. Stamped in Highland Heather, one of the colours my Mum loves the most, I created this trifold card with a window.
Sending love I wanted the image to be visible through a heart-shaped aperture. This heart and the scalloped edge detail came from the Stitched Be Mine Die set.
The sentiment came from the ‘Strong and Beautiful’ stamp set. I love the way it enabled me to add an internal sentiment to tie in with the front.
Two-Step Stamping Technique
Inspiring Iris offers two-step stamping with both detailed outlines and shaded colouring. First, you stamp the outline and go back over with an overlay to colour in. with your choice of colour. It’s a wonderful way of offering many different looks with one stamp set.
I love the whimsical feel of this set, as it has quite a relaxed feel that doesn’t entirely line up fully. A kind of sketch and watercolour feel.
I felt this sentiment was the most perfect choice during this current climate when we have to be brave. With crafting being the most amazing mental health activity, its perfectly fitting for being in isolation. Through my Facebook Lives, I’m able to bring you some connection of crafting fun. Not quite like my in-person classes and events I usually host but a great way of remaining connected.
You can watch the fun by clicking on the video image above. Request a notification from Facebook whilst you’re there, of when I’m next on and you’ll not miss another Facebook Live. I’d love for you to join me.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my share today and I hope we helped raise a smile and lift your spirits.
