Shakey Shakey …. Today we are becoming active here, as we spice thing up with Shaker Cards. You’ve got to love an interactive card and a shaker is one of the most simpler of them.
Whether you’ve hopped on over from the lovely Tracy Bish or you’re starting the hop here, you’re in for a treat. I’m sure Tracy has already spoilt us to some fabulous inspiration, well I hope to inspire you further.
Inking up a new stamp set to me, I pull upon this fun Hostess Stamp Set. Hostess sets are exclusive sets that only a Hostess or Demonstrator can buy with Stampin’ Rewards. Place an order of £150, or more, and you’ll earn Stampin’ Rewards. These can be used against any products, including the Hostess Sets, which can ONLY be purchased with Stampin’ Rewards.
Make a Splash appealed to me for its fun element. A cute 4″ x 4″ card, it’s the perfect size to take this fishbowl. I stamped the fishbowl using Black Memento before using the Still Scenes Globe Dies from Christmas to die cut the shaker opening. The sand was stamped on both the front image and on a back panel.
Baby Wipe Technique
To create a mottled appearance to the plants and the fish, I used the Baby Wipe Technique. You can create your own temporary ink pad by dripping Ink onto several layers of baby wipes. Creating two, one with greens and another with oranges I stamped the plants and then the fish. An Aqua Painter is great to help smooth out any harsh lines and gives the appearance of watercolouring. Paper Snips are the best for fussy cutting these images out, which I did. One fish was stuck to the back inside of the fishbowl and the other to the window sheet that’s stuck to the reverse of the top layer. The plants were attached to the foreground.
A Blends pen in Dark Seaside Spray was perfect for colouring the reverse of the window sheet to create the water. Add the sequins before adhering the top layer with strips of foam pad. These allow there to be a void for the sequins to move.
The tassel and sentiment were added afterwards and left quite simple to allow the focal point to sing.
A fun card that I really enjoyed creating and that I hope you like. Now to see what the fabulous Tanya Rees has to offer. She’s a very talented lady and one I shared my Artisan year with. Hop on over to see what she has in store and enjoy the rest of the hop.
