The Creation Station Team are playing a game of Mr & Mrs today, with a His and Hers card layout theme. One layout, two cards, one for him and the other for her.
If you’ve arrived here from the lovely Sara Levin’s website, then you’ll have already seen some fabulous creativity, but follow the hop around and you’ll see lots more. Before you leave, I’ve some creativity of my own to share with you.
I’ve created two Thank you cards today, one masculine and one feminine, both using the Seaside Notions stamp set.
My chosen card layout has a matting layer and a circular, corner focal point that is reflected in both cards.
This first card is based around the Seahorse and offers vellum foliage from the Smooth Sailing Die set. I’ve pulled several nautical and sea-based products for these cards. The High Seas 3D Embossing Folder offers a gorgeous textured backdrop for the focal point.
A spot of fussy cutting and some careful placement on the Stitched Circle shape, together with a scattering of sequins and the card was complete.
A Thank you For Him
My nephew has recently been of great help to us, so a suitable masculine Thank you card was necessary. I said goodbye to the Calypso Coral used on the feminine card and switched it for Basic Grey. Repeatedly stamping the coral across the matting layer gave a great random effect that I heat embossed clear black.
I cut the Stitched Circle from the newsprint found in the Come Sailing Home Designer Series Paper pack. It kept the colour palette similar but added additional texture and interest.
Be that my nephew is in his 20’s, I felt the card needed to have a contemporary feel about it. Taking an Aqua Painter and building an Ombré wash of Balmy Blue, I die cut the hashtag, t and y, from Shimmery White Cardstock. It somehow didn’t look complete, so repeated the heat embossed Thank you on Basic Black cardstock to emphasise the Thank You. Would sequins be right for a masculine card? Oh yes … why not … just a couple just added that final lift without making it too girly.
I really liked the overall look of both of these cards and the base silver foil matting layer to frame my work.
Two quite different Cards, based on one similar layout. I wonder what Sara Nell Langland has in store for us next. Again, two cards based on one layout.
I’m sure you’ll agree there’s a lot of inspiration amongst this hop … enjoy!
