The Let’s Get Hopping Team are challenging themselves to use up that DSP. Do you have a stash of Designer Series Paper that you struggle to get through? Well today’s hop is the one for you. Today we share our inspiration with you on tips and tricks on how to use up that DSP.
If you’ve arrived here from the lovely Linda’s blog then welcome … I’m sure Linda has already inspired you with her creativity. Well, I hope to inspire you further with mine.
Just recently I had cut some Designer Series Paper, more commonly known as DSP, down to 6″ x 6″ and had part used these pieces … but would I use up what was left? Below are two pieces I was left with, sat on top of a full sheet of DSP, to show you the reverse pattern of the larger piece with the birds on. The Bird Ballad paper is probably my absolute favourite pack at the moment and I’m about to show you why.
Most people would have thrown out these left over pieces from having done some fussy cutting. Teaming up with a simple embossed background of Soft Suede cardstock, I set to fussy cutting some more. A Birdcage, some flowers and slim yellow banner. Already I had the elements to a pretty simple little Thank you card.
A little bow and a splattering of sequins and my card was complete. With still more paper left, I set to a second card.
I so love this sentiment and the mixed fonts it offers. I selected the word ‘friends’ from another sentiment and randomly stamped it with Versamark across the cardbase. This tied in nicely with the focal point. Some more fussy cutting and I was able to add a tail-less bird, disguised by a cluster of flowers to my sentiment panel. You can’t see it, but beneath this sentiment is a whole in the yellow banner. So many little elements used on just one card.
Sequins and a little bow complete this card. It was quite satisfying to see what little paper I had left. I found this challenge quite enjoyable and plan to give it a go with some other papers.
Perhaps you’ll set yourself a challenge to either use more DSP or certainly use up your scraps.
Well, I hope you have liked my share with you today. Next up in the hop with more inspiraton is Alicia, who I’m sure will inspire us all. Enjoy the rest of the hop and have a great week.
