Ever made that project and found yourself short of the background or patterned paper? Today we are sharing our ideas for how you can create your own usable backgrounds.
I knew I wanted to do a spot of random stamping, but I wanted something that looked rich and bang on trend. Adding some gold heat embossing to your background, adds a touch of opulence and richness. I was amazed at just how quickly and easily this project came together.
Firstly I stamped the larger leaves in Versamark and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I loved how these turned out.
Stamping on a dark card base
To enable the colour of the other images to stand out, I first stamped them in Whisper White before over stamping in the relevant colour. You will find the use of a Stamp-a-mi-jig helpful here. I used both Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist for the smaller leaf and Lovely Lipstick Ink for the flower. The colours worked so well together.
A little more gold was added to this card, in the sequins, both singularly and on a string before a simple Birthday sentiment.
This dark DIY Background is something that we’re seeing out there in stores. It was fun recreating this look with Ink and embossing powder.
Now be sure to take a look at what the lovely Jennifer Frost has in store for us. She is super talented and I feel sure she’ll have something fabulous to share.
I hope you have enjoyed my offering today and that you’ll perhaps give this style a go. Enjoy!
Gorgeous technique!
beautiful background, Mikaela. I wouldn’t think of stamping over the white image. Do you wait for it to dry first? Stamp-a-ma-jig is one of my favourite tools. I use it a lot, Always have it handy at classes, wowing people when then need to restamp an image.
Oh my! This is absolutely DIVINE!!! ?
