Yesterday I hosted a Home Decor Craft Day at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa, where we made this beautiful Christmas Wreath.
The new Sprig Punch, released in the Autumn/Winter Seasonal Catalogue, prompted this creation. Plenty of punching makes this a relatively simple project to make. A variation of green hues gave depth of colour and with a little fluffing, lots of texture.
I love the delicate wispy little flourishes you see dotted around this wreath, made from the Frosted Bouquet Thinlits. The silver maple leaf and the twigs are from the Seasonal Layers set, a set I’ve not nearly used enough. You can achieve the embossed effect of the Poinsettia petals, using Nature’s Roots Thinlits and the new Big Shot Embossing Mats. They are just fabulous for adding delicate texture.
Which do you prefer? A red Poinsettia or a white one? I thought the white poinsettia would blend well with most decor palettes and allowed the stunning ribbon to sing.
Adding the woodgrain to the middle of the flower and you’ll add depth to the project and a moody feel when illuminated, especially if you choose a dark woodgrain. This is when this project comes to life and shines.
This wreath is approximately 8″ wide with a string of LED lights running around it.
Those who know me well, know that I’m not a lover of Poinsettias, but I find this project just beautiful and I want to make yet more now. It’s just as stunning with the lights on, as it does without.
