It’s a man’s world ! …… Well that’s how the song goes and this month we are celebrating everything that is Man Made. Later this month we’ll be celebrating Father’s Day, so it’s a great time to think of those masculine projects.
If you’ve hopped on over from the wonderful Dena Rekow, then I’m sure she has already inspired you with a whole heap of masculine inspiration. I am about to share the British Bull Dog with you from the ever so pretty stamp set, Sitting Pretty. This stamp set launched with our colourful new catalogue on 1st June.
Often we find Masculine cards difficult and feel that we don’t have a masculine set to hand, yet many sets have something within them that make for some great masculine projects.
I love the brick wall image in the Sitting Pretty set, that Ive used here.
Tip for Creating Man made Chevrons
Take a 1″ strip of cardstock or Designer Series Paper and using the Banner Triple Punch, kept inserting the same piece and punching, to create as many chevrons as you need.
He looks a happy chap doesn’t he?
Although the colours were what I set out to use, I did feel that it needed a certain little lift. Sequins, rhinestones, a smile? … nothing seemed quite right for this guy, but some silver heat embossing seemed just enough.
I wanted something a little quirky for the inside and decided to extend the sentiment to duplicate the words ‘wonderful, brilliant, fabulous’. Blueberry Bushel was what helped finish off that final ‘You!’ pulling together the inside with the outside watercolour wash – Markers Pens are great for achieving two colour sentiments like this.
Well, he’s not quite sitting pretty, but my husband rather liked this card, so I must have struck lucky with this Man Made theme. I hope you have enjoyed it and I hope wherever you are, you are enjoying your day. Carry on around the hop and gather together yet more masculine inspiration for those hard to make cards.
Next up is Kathy Kartak, she is bound to have something inspiring for us. Enjoy!
Perfect use of this stamp set. Love all of the details–the silver embossing was a great idea, too.
Thank you so much Sara … I just felt that it needed a lift, but being a masculine card, rhinestones and sequins just didn’t seem fitting x
