We at the Creation Station are sharing an abundance of inspiration today, using Stampin’ Up! Products with Trees and Textures. Nature offers wonderful inspiration, which is why I offer you a sneak peek that will have us Rooted in Nature.
Welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop – Trees and Textures this beautiful Sunday and if you’ve hopped on over from the lovely Julie Beltramo, then I’m sure you’ll have already a head full of ideas and inspiration. My inspiration for you comes from a new up coming product from the soon to launch, Annual Catalogue 2018.
Trees and textures offer great depth and interest and ground a card, which I love. Being spring, I didn’t want the colours to get too dark and heavy, so I’ve balanced it out with Whisper White and Sahara Sand. The splattering of gold offers a contemporary twist. I’m sad to be seeing the beautiful Lots of Love Box Framelits on our Retiring list. You can make cute little packaging for Gifts, really easily with it. If its still on your wish list, then be sure to get ordering it today through my online store to avoid disappointment.
Just look at that beautiful embossing of the leaves all over the box. An Embossing Mat in the Big Shot and this new embossing Framelit from Nature’s Roots, helps achieve this. Oh my goodness, I love this Framelit alone. This set is gorgeous!
Textures achieved
You can see here that I’ve used the same Framelit to emboss and give further detail and texture to this leaf. This helps pull the card and gift together. The Twine tied in a knot gives tactile texture, the wooden element grounds it by being wood and the heat embossed sentiment in Gold, which is sadly difficult to see here, a little lift. I just love the detail in the wood background and the leaf.
Sadly my Father-in-law is currently gong through Chemotherapy. In fact, we currently have all three parents poorly, so being strong between us is a must right now. I’ve yet to send a card to my Father-in-law, for I’ve not found the right sentiment or imagery, but I believe this says it all.
The Thumping technique helps give colourful texture to the tree canopy, as I have done here. Like with Decoupage, you can use dimensionals to add depth and interest to just certain parts of the tree too. Again, the embossing adds interest to the beautiful white space I have left on this card and the gold embossed sentiment gives that pop of shimmer.
I’ve tied in the gold embossing to a strip of gold foil to the inside. This adds a strong look to the inside without being overly fussy. The heat embossing is clearer to see in this photo. I have really enjoyed making these projects and playing with these new products. I can’t wait to share more with you and play with this set further. Lets hop over to see what Trees and Texture Andrea Tracy-Tucker has in store for us. Enjoy the rest of the hop and the inspiration we are all sharing. Thanks for hopping by today.

Love, love, love that leaf embossed on the white!! So crisp and clean looking!
Thank you so much Julie. I very nearly chose a coloured base, but I’m pleased I went white. It works beautifully. I loved it too and I’m pleased you do too x
What what whaaaat? This is mind blowing awesome! I truly am so impressed with your gorgeous stamped box. the embossed leaves have such an impact of beauty. Smiles, Elizabeth
OMG What a truly wonderful compliment Elizabeth. Thank you soooo much! Goodness that means a lot coming from an Artisan Design Member. WOW … Thank you xx
So beautiful!! I need to start playing with my new things too — I have the embossing mat that I haven’t even tried yet. I was trying to figure out how you used the tree image from “lovely as a tree” until i read closer that you were posting alternatives to use “until” they were available!! The whole card set is gorgeous and I’ve bookmarked the page to come back and look again soon!! thanks for sharing!
Hi there Jeannie, Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely message. I’ve owned an embossing mat for years and haven’t used it in a long while, so this was the perfect occasion it seemed. Ah yes, I wanted to show people that they could try and achieve similar with Lovely as a Tree, but personally, with the addition of the sentiments and single leaves, I think Rooted in Nature pips it to the post for me. Its a gorgeous bundle that I’m sure you’ll love playing with. Glad you’ve book marked to go back to. Enjoy xx
This is simply a beautiful card -both ASCETICALLY and in sentiment. I have no doubt that Your father-in-law will appreciate the strength you are sharing with him. Thank you for showing us this technique – I haven’t seen anything with the new Embossing mat yet, and have been curious..
Thank you so much Carolyn, that is so kind of you to say. I think that dealing with Cancer is such a personal thing, that I’ve really not found the right set or sentiment for him until seeing this. He is an amazingly strong man who has a lot of love surrounding him and he loves nature, so this card, I’m sure, will be most fitting for him and I feel happy to send it. I’m so pleased that you’ve liked my share. I pulled out my old Embossing Mat from years ago to play with. I’m assuming the one to come will be the same. It’s a lovely technique with such beautiful subtlety xx
It is deeply personal, having been diagnosed myself last year, i know this directly. This card hits just the right degree of acknowledgement and hope. I hope he continues to have the strength to deal with his circumstance. And am I ever glad that I have the Embossing Mat on order:)
Oh Carolyn, Although sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I am assuming that things are better and you have a much brighter future. Hearing how you feel about this card being the right degree of acknowledgement and hope, gives me great comfort He is in for another course of treatment tomorrow so we hope he will be able to manage it as well as he has his last course. Enjoy playing with that embossing mat … It opens doors to new techniques. Enjoy! xx
