Let’s Get Hopping #8 Showing our love for Very Vanilla

April 5, 2018 by Mikaela Titheridge 17 Comments

A warm spring like welcome from Cambridgeshire, UK and to the Let’s Get Hopping Blog Hop, where this month we are showing our love for Very Vanilla.

Lets Get Hopping with Mikaela Titheridge, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, The Crafty oiINK Pen

I’m very much a Whisper White girl, loving clean and fresh designs, so here’s a challenge. This month at Let’s Get Hopping, we are sharing our love for Very Vanilla. Now you may well have already hopped on over from my good friend, Eimear. She is a very talented crafter who I’m sure will have inspired you with what love she is sharing for Very Vanilla.

During last month’s class, one of my ladies wore a top that I couldn’t stop looking at. The colours, the pattern and the base colour of vanilla had me thinking. Yes, I was planning on using it as inspiration to create a card to share with you today.

I don’t really know what it was about this top, but using the Beautiful Bouquet I set to work and created this card for you.

Let's Get Hopping Blog Hop Show their love for Very Vanilla and I take inspiration from a customer's top using Beautiful Bouquet and Watercolour paper by Mikaela Titheridge, #6UK Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, The Crafty oINK Pen. Supplies available through my online store 24/7

I’m really quite pleased with the colour combination that I’ve managed to recreate. Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Dapper Denim and Berry Burst.

The base card is Very Vanilla and of course the colour of our Watercolour paper, is also more very vanilla than white.

Very Vanilla Watercolour Spritz Technique

If you randomly stamp your images around the edge of your watercolour paper, you can then add your sentiment panel across the middle. Before mounting it, you want to spritz it with water using our Stampin’ Up! Spritzers. Depending upon how much you do, will depend upon the effect that is created. the paper may temporarily buckle, so I weighed mine down in the middle with an acrylic block, before then gently heating the back to dry it off. You can then mount it to the next base layer adding embellishments as you see fit.

It offers quite a messy whimsical look, but I really quite like it. I also liked the edge of the Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim that I’ve added. The sentiment banner is from the Home Life Stamp Set and Framelit bundle.

Something quite different for me, but something that I really enjoyed making. I just wonder now if Audrey, who’s top was my inspiration, will love it as much as I do? I’ll have to send her a copy through the post.

I do hope you’ll hop on over now to see what very vanilla special Verity will have whipped up for us. I can’t wait to see myself.

Happy Hopping and do let us know if you like the vanilla twists that we’ve shared with you.

aww Thank you so much Tanya, I am delighted that you like it and you should so go and give this technique a try. It feels strange to beautifully stamp on watercolour paper and then spritz to mess it up, but it’s really therapeutic too x

Do you like FREE Products? Then you're going to lo Do you like FREE Products? Then you're going to love Sale-a-Bration 2021 and this Oh So Ombre Paper.

The Black contrast of Simply Succulents looks incredible as an overlay to the Oh So Ombre Papers. I so enjoyed creating these, even if it created rather a mess on the floor of all the bits. These cards were created to send out to a few people who have been on my mind throughout the recent announcement of Lockdown. Wanting to add a little shimmer, I pulled in a touch of Black Glimmer Paper that has just retired but this could easily be switched up with some ribbon or a flash of something else.

These were designed as part of the new Stamping Inkspiration Blog Hop that went live last night. We were sharing Something New.
