It ’twas the Night in Bethlehem and everyone was sleeping … but a star shone bright and we created this beautiful card and candle set for gift giving.
Last year I offered a class to my ladies that involved a lot of sponging of a darkened sky, this year, I offered something similar and teamed it with the Night in Bethlehem Bundle. We got inky but we had fun and produced the most beautiful traditional scenes for these cards and candle set.
I do love Night of Navy, It’s such a gorgeous deep blue that I couldn’t not use this ribbon with the night sky as dark as this. Smoky Slate and a flash of Silver Foil paper and some sparkly Rhinestone stars and this card need nothing more.
I saw this style of card in the catalogue and just had to CASE it (Copy and Share Everything). The cardstock started life white, but using a mix of Island Indigo Ink and Night of Navy, we used a Sponge Brayer to create the background sky, before adding some white heat embossed stars. The die cut town was cut from Silver Foil Cardstock and layered using Dimensionals.
Sentiment Tip
I love how with the use of Stampin’ Markers you can pick out a section of a sentiment and only ink up your chosen part for use on your project, as I’ve done here. The full sentiment was more a verse for the inside of the card, but I picked out ‘Season of Joy’ and just inked up that. We often over look a sentiment without looking at them in this manner.
The candle was created by stamping on a simple sheet of tissue paper and heating it with a heat tool to melt it into the outside surface of the candle. Its such an easy and effective technique and a great one for jazzing up a plain candle for gift giving.
