No Bones About it, it’s Dinosaur Bingo (inc. Box Instructions)

July 25, 2015 by Mikaela Titheridge 13 Comments

For some time now, Kids Bingo Games have been a firm favourite of our son, so I wanted to make a Bingo Game for him using the gorgeous Stampin’ Up! supplies that I had, one that was lovingly made and more of a keepsake and reminder of both of our loves combined.

Most little boys are partial to Dinosaurs and astonish me with how they manage to learn and recite the names. No Bones About it was released in this years Annual Catalogue …. and it’s totally Rawrsome! …

I finally set to work. I knew I didn’t want the primary colours that he’d have liked a few years back, when he was still learning his colours, but something perhaps a little older.

I based my colour choices on the Designer Series Paper that I selected for the Box lid from the English Garden pack … yes that’s right … the English Garden pack isn’t just pretty flowers.
I made the box, just as I had for the base of a friends Gift recently, where I’d added internal dividers (see the post Here).
I then used the backing cardboard to various packs of paper and card stocks to make up the boards and counters, matting and layering and corner rounding pretty much everything that wasn’t already round.

The papers on the counters are again from the English Garden Designer Series Paper pack.
After completing this set and photographing it, I decided that I wanted to add a little Muslin bag for the counters, so I stamped the Diplodocus image to the front using Mint Macaron, a sweep of Old Olive for some grass and stamped the word Bingo to the front. This will help keep the counters in the box from falling out, should the box ever get dropped.
I had so much fun making this set and feel so pleased that finally I have completed a project that I’ve had in my head for far too long.
For those of you who had previously asked for the measurements of the Box that I’d made before, which will indeed work for this project too, here they are.
You need to take two sheets of Cardstock measuring 11.5″ square and score one at 1 3/4″ on all four sides and one at 1 11/16″ on all four sides. Cut off the corners of each and cut into the corner tabs as shown, before assembling.
I hope you like today’s share … It was certainly something a little different from me.
Enjoy your weekend, however you are spending it.

Mikaela x

WOW … Thank you all so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave me a comment. I am so pleased that you like my creation. I had so much fun making it. I had been wanting to make one for quite some time … in fact, I had originally wanted to make it using a stamp set full on Monsters, but it's taken me that long, that it's now retired and when I saw Dinosaurs in the new Annual Catalogue, I knew it had to be created using this set instead. I'm so pleased that you all like it and it's given you some inspiration to perhaps create your own xx

Oh Karen, I'm so pleased that you like it. Yes, on the reverse of the blue backed coins, I stamped each image from the boards. On the other coins, the brown stripy ones, I stamped just a leaf in the middle. These are the ones that you'd place over the image when you have what has been turned over. The one to cover their entire board, is the winner. Very basic rules, but just fun and even more so that mummy had it.

I'd love to see what you come up with x

Today I'm thinking Glitter and Glamour as part of Today I'm thinking Glitter and Glamour as part of the Stampin' Creative Blog Hop. I pulled upon the Dressed to Impress stamp set and the flowers from the True Love Papers for a somewhat glamorous new friend of mine. @jogaffney_thestyletherapist has been a fabulous inspiration during this past year and as this card evolved, the more I thought of her and her style. She is indeed fabulous and I couldn't recommend her more.
